scrapbook generation super sketch club review {scrappy shopping}

Way back in April, I signed up to get the Scrapbook Generation Super Sketch Club Kit monthly. I got about 3 months worth of kits before I cancelled  my subscription. Not because I didn't like them but because I just didn't have time to really scrap.
I thought I'd do a little review of my kit from April. Buying the kit was super easy-I was able to pay with paypal, which I appreciated because I often fund my scrappy purchases with Ebay sales or online garage sales.
The kit arrived exactly when SG said it would and they sent me tracking info. The kit was packed perfectly with each layout in it's own bag. A sketch and instructions for each layout were included with each bag.
I'm a visual person, so I did print out the photos of the layouts from the website before I started scrapbooking from the kit. I think it might be helpful to have those in the kit but if it keeps costs down, it's not a big deal to print it out myself.
The instructions that came with the kit are very clear and easy to follow. Within 30 minutes of sitting down, I had a very cool, completely embellished 2 page layout done.

Yup, I used photos from WAY back in 2002. Wow. Look at my sweet little twin babies. Hard to believe they are Jr High heartbreakers now. (Let's not talk about my hair, mmmmkay?)
The layout sketch called for different size photos-I just made some adjustments to make mine work.
I have finished 2 of the 5 layouts included in the kit. Of the 2 layouts I finished, I had enough leftover patterned paper to make about 5 cards (using cardstock and embellies from my stash).
I joined the club just as my professional life got super overwhelming and I had little to no time to scrap. So the kits piled up-unloved and unused.
That being said, I would recommend this kit to someone who loves using sketches and wants to try newer lines. It seemed like every kit I got had a ton of newer product with GREAT sketches.
I really like this kit club and I will definitely be signing back up next year. I'm on a spending free for the remainder of 2013-trying to see if I can get through 4 months of crafting without buying anything but adhesive before I let myself buy something new!
Hope this helps someone else who has been thinking about Scrapbook Generation as a kit club option.

***I was not compensated in any way for this review-all the opinions and thoughts are my own.***

  1. What a fun layout and the paper is great with the pictures that you used....I may have to look into this when I get back on track...I have been in kind of a scrapping slump....and it does seem like I tend to do very similar layouts over and over. Maybe this would help! Have a great day!

  2. This kit seems awesome! I have one of the books, but I almost never make layouts since I pretty much scrap project life all the time now. I fit in a regular layout every now and then. I would think this would be the perfect time to be on a spending freeze! Christmas shopping! Haha!

  3. Very cute page!
    I belong to one kit club right now, but will probably stop once my sub is up.
    I like the kits, but they are piling up here, too.

  4. This kit club looks great! I wish I could join a kit club, but I'm on a scrapping spending freeze right now too!
