what a rip off {a scrapbook layout}

Before I share my latest layout, Katie at  at Katie Stories nominated me for a blog award! How cool is that? Head on over to Katie's blog, when you are done here-she's getting married soon and is doing a fabulous job capturing the wedding planning along with her regular Project Life. {She also shares some pretty fun craft project from time to time.}

So, as we all know, bloggy awards have rules! Here are the rules for this award:

Thank the blogger who nominated me for the award. (Thank you Katie!)
Include a link to their blog in your post, as well as the award image (see above)
Give 7 random facts about yourself
Nominate 15 other deserving bloggers for the award
Include links to the nominate bloggers' sites
Let the other bloggers know that they have been nominated for the award

So, for my 7 random facts:

1. I stopped drinking all forms of soda, tea and coffee about 3 months ago after I had to have not one, but two surgeries for kidney stones. I surprisingly, don't miss any of it, at all.

2. I know every word to the song "Ice, Ice Baby". I'm not sure what that says about me.

3. I saw my first {off} Broadway show last year-Beauty & the Beast. Wow. So cool.

4. I wish I could live on/or near a beach somewhere. Right now our life is in Ohio, and I am good with that. But someday...

5. I will put guacamole on pretty much anything. I love it that much.

6. I'm a lacrosse mom-which is way different than a soccer mom or hockey mom-my kid has minimal padding and has ginormous players barreling into him at full speed while he tries to catch a ball the size of a golf ball being hurled at his net in upwards of 40 mph. It's not for the faint of heart. I've learned not to panic. That he will get up.

7. I own 6 paper trimmers. Why?!? Must stop buying paper trimmers...

And here are my 15 bloggers
Tanya Creative Endeavors
Becky Fourth House on the Right
Tracy Tracy's Treasures
Mary Pat Siehled with a Kiss
Mary Jo Scrapbook Treehouse
Lisa Remember the Good Times

Tammy Your Memory Connection

Laura Who's This Chick

Julia Julie's Journal

Keshet Over the Rainbow

Erika Scrapbook Obsession

So yeah, that's only 11. Sorry about that. But I'm tired and fighting a summer cold. So you get 11. :)

On to the layout.
Just a quick one pager today-Jarron, the second oldest {Bryce's twin}, ordered a large soft serve ice cream last year at our local amusement park, Kings Island. He got about a 1/3rd of the way into it when he realized it was hollow inside! He was so bummed. He looked at me, devastated, and said, "What a rip off!"
I snapped a picture with my iPhone and now he has the layout to remember the story. :)

I don't usually use pastels with the big boys but I wanted to match the ice cream. I used some Bella Blvd patterned paper to weave a background and finished it off with Thickers.

Have a great weekend friends! See you next week with more layouts and stories! My 2nd Studio Calico order should be here today! Wooo hooo!

  1. You're so sweet to nominate me. Thank you! :) The title of your layout has me laughing because it sounds like something my daughter would say. LOL! The Bella colors go so well with the photo. I love how you arranged the strips of paper. Such a neat background!

  7. OMGoodness! I am honored to be nominated, thank you so much!!! :)

    One of the funniest memories I have is my college roommate and I sitting in my Mazda 626 in the school parking lot, blasting the cassette tape of Vanilla Ice. We wouldn't stop listening until we both could sing the whole song through perfectly. And then, we just wanted to practice! We never realized that people had been walking by, watching us, the football team was laughing at us ... we were just in our own little worlds! LOL! Great memories!!! I could probably still get about 90% of the words ... not sure I could keep up anymore, LOL! :)

    Your layout is adorable, too!! :)
