christina needs {fun stuff}

I forgot to download the pictures I took of my layouts this weekend. Oops! So rather than go dark all week, I thought I'd post something fun instead.

Go to Google and type in your first name and the word "needs". Then make a list of the top ten links. Feel free to add your own commentary.

For me I typed "Christina Needs", these are the links I got: *
*I am not posting actual links because some of them may have questionable content...

1. Does She Need Help -- in reference to Christina Aguilera (sometimes, it seems like she does)

2. Needs A Makeover--also in reference to Ms Aguilera (Yes, yes she does)

3. Grey's Anatomy, What Christina Needs--(I no longer watch this show, for me it jumped the shark about two helicopter crashes and a train collision ago, but super excited to see someone besides Aguilera make the list!)

4. Help Staying Upright--in reference to, yes, you guessed it, Christina Aguilera (girl's got issues)

5. A New Stylist--in reference to Christina Hendricks (hey, a different Christina! And I totally disagree here-CH always looks amazing.)

6. Help Walking--oh, Aguilera (Get it together, girl.)

7. A Bag--Ms Aguilera (Really? She can't even walk...)

8. A bra--Aguilera, AGAIN (This seems personal to me.)

9. Nine Things She Needs to Stop Doing--Aguilera (Well, we have about 8 of them here, apparently.)

10. A Stylist--This time it's Aguilera that needs the stylist (and a bag, a bra, help staying upright, walking, jeesh...she does need HELP).

So what did I learn from this?
A-The internet has a LOT of advice for Christina Aguilera.
B-She's a hot mess.

Happy Thursday, friends! I'll be back next week with some scrapbooking fun. :)

scrapbook generation super sketch club review {scrappy shopping}

Way back in April, I signed up to get the Scrapbook Generation Super Sketch Club Kit monthly. I got about 3 months worth of kits before I cancelled  my subscription. Not because I didn't like them but because I just didn't have time to really scrap.
I thought I'd do a little review of my kit from April. Buying the kit was super easy-I was able to pay with paypal, which I appreciated because I often fund my scrappy purchases with Ebay sales or online garage sales.
The kit arrived exactly when SG said it would and they sent me tracking info. The kit was packed perfectly with each layout in it's own bag. A sketch and instructions for each layout were included with each bag.
I'm a visual person, so I did print out the photos of the layouts from the website before I started scrapbooking from the kit. I think it might be helpful to have those in the kit but if it keeps costs down, it's not a big deal to print it out myself.
The instructions that came with the kit are very clear and easy to follow. Within 30 minutes of sitting down, I had a very cool, completely embellished 2 page layout done.

Yup, I used photos from WAY back in 2002. Wow. Look at my sweet little twin babies. Hard to believe they are Jr High heartbreakers now. (Let's not talk about my hair, mmmmkay?)
The layout sketch called for different size photos-I just made some adjustments to make mine work.
I have finished 2 of the 5 layouts included in the kit. Of the 2 layouts I finished, I had enough leftover patterned paper to make about 5 cards (using cardstock and embellies from my stash).
I joined the club just as my professional life got super overwhelming and I had little to no time to scrap. So the kits piled up-unloved and unused.
That being said, I would recommend this kit to someone who loves using sketches and wants to try newer lines. It seemed like every kit I got had a ton of newer product with GREAT sketches.
I really like this kit club and I will definitely be signing back up next year. I'm on a spending free for the remainder of 2013-trying to see if I can get through 4 months of crafting without buying anything but adhesive before I let myself buy something new!
Hope this helps someone else who has been thinking about Scrapbook Generation as a kit club option.

***I was not compensated in any way for this review-all the opinions and thoughts are my own.***

a visit with great granny lakes {a scrapbook layout}

I don't get to use pink very often. I don't really have that much of it in my stash. But I do have a few pieces of patterned paper and alphabets here and there.
It's a hard color for me to use. I don't have a lot of photos or situations that really work with it, but I challenged myself last week to try.
(Side note-I've been challenging myself to do a lot of things lately-I've been in a serious rut-time to shake things up!)

This is what I came up with:

Yeah, not a ton of pink but I gave it a shot. :)
This layout is about a visit with my husband's grandmother-who turned 81 years young this May. She's a pretty amazing lady. Raised 8 children on a farm in Eastern KY (where she still lives). She's sweet but tough and cans the best green beans you will ever eat in your entire life.
We love when she's here in Ohio for a visit-she tells stories about my husband's antics as a boy and about my father in law as a child. The kids love hearing about the two toughest guys they know falling off horses and being scared of sheep. :)
We love Granny Lakes, I just wish we could see her a little more often.
Happy Monday!

bbc family fun night {a scrapbook layout}

Not sure that I have posted about this too much but last May we switched our church membership to a congregation closer to our home. We'd been driving 30 minutes one way to services. Yikes. Our new church home is about 7 minutes away. LOVE it.
We also love the people, the fellowship. Love that the boys attend a youth group with kids from their school. It's been a huge blessing to us.
We are pretty active there-the husband is a deacon and I teach a Master Club class on Wednesday nights. But more than that, we love to be involved with the activities.
Like the always fun, BBC Family Fun night-we have one in two weeks at a local campground with a big bonfire and hayride-I can't wait.
This layout is from a summer fun night-ice cream, games and a bouncy house.
Too much fun!

How much do I love those Thickers???

I used the bottom of a patterned paper to make my arrow strip-because I'm thrifty like that. :)

I'm pretty sure this is my favorite color combination ever. I really want a whole outfit based on these colors.
What's your favorite color combo for scrapbooking these days?
