rockets {a scrapbook layout}

Oh my goodness is work kicking my rear end lately. Just a lot going on-lots of projects and not much time to do them in.
I'm heading down to Florida for our fall sales meeting in a couple of weeks, I'm hoping that things will slow down a bit after that and I can breathe a little bit. :)
In the meantime, I might be posting a little less frequently but I'll share when I can. Today's layout is the football layout I promised to share last week.
I cut the title using my Silhouette-I just cut the letters twice in two different colors and then tried to create a shadow effect, using the twins' team colors for the season. I used Bella's Making the Team on this layout as well. {I created a similar layout for my other son Jackson and these layouts and last week's will all go together in our annual scrapbook.}

I used lots of smaller photos on this layout (thank you Photosheet!) and bubble phases from patterned paper as accents.

I have to admit I miss the boys playing football. :(

I hope to be back later this week with a layout that means a lot to me-one of my dad and my baby {who just turned 4!!!}

Happy Wednesday!

upward football {a scrapbook layout}

I don't know about where you live, but here in Southwestern Ohio the nights have been getting cooler and there's a crispness to the air. Which means one thing-it's time for football! My beloved Cincinnati Bengals are off to an okay start, going 1-1, but our poor high school team hasn't won a game yet. I'm hoping this Friday's their week to shine.
My older sons played flag football for an organization called Upward for 3 seasons before deciding to focus on lacrosse and basketball. I'm finally getting around to scrapping some of those photos.
Bella Blvd's Making the Team line of paper is perfect for this project!

This is the first of three layouts about the 2011 season of Upward. The other two layouts share information about the boys individual teams (the twins were on the same team). I'll share one of those layouts tomorrow.

I love those Jillibean corrugated alphas-I paired it with a Bella Blvd Making the Team die cut for the perfect title.

I can't seem to stop making banners. It matched the patterned paper so nicely, though.

Ever since I learned to notch my paper to catch the edge of the twine for my banners, they turn out so pretty! :)
Here's a close up of side a:

And side b:

Thanks for stopping by today, I'll be back tomorrow with another football layout.

scraplifting myself {scrapbook layouts}

Sometimes when you see a good thing, it makes sense to just keep doing it.
When I switch out 8" x 10" photos of the boys from frames on the walls, I usually try to scrap the ones that have just come down. I love how those big photos look on my layouts. I rarely print bigger than a 4" x 6", so it's always fun to work with the big photos.
I typically sketch out one layout and use it for all for photos, so they all look similar in the scrapbook.
This weeks layouts were no exception.

I started with Jackson's layout-added a cool little banner at the bottom for his personality then moved onto Moose's layout...

Decided to switch things up a little more with the twins' layouts and give them their own chipboard letters...

And called it done.
{Patterned Paper and Embellies: Bella Blvd, Corrugated Letters: Jillibean, Brown Coaster Letters: Project GinX}
What do you do with the photos you take out of frames? Do you scrap them or just put them in albums?

boys will be boys {a scrapbook layout}

Holy smokes has it been crazy around here! Between school starting, a couple of big projects at work, and a new ministry at church-life has just been a little bit more of an adventure than normal. :)
Over Labor Day weekend, we got our two youngest boys new beds and furniture for their rooms-yay for Ikea! {I am pretty good at putting together Ikea furniture these days} it was a little bittersweet though. I dropped off two toddler beds, a changing table, and crib bedding at our local baby resale shop. It's a little sad to think my days of changing diapers and rocking babies to sleep are over.
All of those feeling had me pulling out some old photos of the boys. I had to scrap this one.

I remember the day it was taken. Not long before we had Brody. It was very hot that day and I was very pregnant. The boys had so much fun posing and hamming it up for the camera.
Can't believe it was 4 years ago. That those gap toothed 7 year olds are now pre-teens talking about girlfriends and meeting friends at football games. That 4 year old is now older than his brothers were in this picture, talking about trying out for baseball and studying for spelling tests.
It certainly was an adventure waiting to happen.

Happy Tuesday Friends!
